What it is
Large rip rap: heavy, angular stone, sold by the ton. These pieces are bigger than our Rip Rap, 4 to 8 inch, for places where water moves fast or hits hard.
What it is for
- Creek banks and pond shorelines. Protects the bank from wash-outs and wave action.
- Spillways and steep channels. Where smaller stone would move.
- Large culvert outfalls.
- Rugged landscape edges. Some yards use it as a rough, natural border.
How much to order
Large rip rap goes on by area and stone size. Send us the length and width of the bank or channel and we will estimate the tons. Call 817-765-1655.
Install
- Shape the bank and remove loose soil.
- Lay woven landscape fabric under the stone.
- Start at the bottom of the slope and work up, locking the pieces together.
