What it is

A 6-foot by 300-foot roll (1,800 sq ft) of the same woven polypropylene we sell in the 4'×100' size. The contractor roll. Bigger sheets, fewer seams, lower cost per square foot.

What it's for

Multi-bed installs, commercial work, or any project where you're covering more than ~800 sq ft of fabric in one weekend. Common uses:

  • Whole-yard mulch beds — new construction or major refreshes covering 1,500+ sq ft.
  • Commercial property edges — apartment complexes, office building beds, HOA common areas.
  • Long gravel paths or DG patios — fewer seams to overlap means a cleaner install and less labor.
  • Multiple French-drain runs — wrap several drains from one roll without trimming the small roll constantly.

The 6-foot width also matters: most beds are wider than 4 feet, so the small roll needs an overlap seam through the middle. The 6-foot roll usually doesn't.

When to buy this vs the small roll

Project size Recommendation
Under 400 sq ft Small (4'×100')
400 - 1,000 sq ft 2-3 small rolls or 1 contractor roll
Over 1,000 sq ft Contractor roll — about 30% cheaper per sq ft
Multiple jobs over a season Contractor roll for the truck

Most pros keep one of these on the truck through the spring install season. It pays for itself in three installs.

How to use it

Same as the small roll: overlap seams 6 inches, pin with landscape staples every 4-6 feet, cut around existing plants with an X-cut. Mulch or rock goes on top at full depth (3" for mulch, 3" for decorative rock).

Don't lay fabric directly on actively growing aggressive weeds (Bermuda, nutsedge). Glyphosate or hand-pull first.

Buying tips

  • Heavy roll — about 75 lbs. We'll load it into your truck bed.
  • Store leftover roll out of UV. The polypropylene degrades in long-term sun exposure.
  • For an under-rock install on a high-traffic path, double the fabric — two layers crisscrossed. Last as long as the rock.
