What it is
Limestone landscape boulders, sold by the ton. Pale tan to soft gray stone with a rugged, natural face. Limestone is the neutral boulder: it sits easily next to cream or tan brick, Texas Cream flagstone and crushed limestone, so it suits both rustic and clean modern yards.
What it is for
- Accent stones. One large boulder or a group of three anchors a bed, a corner or a mailbox planting.
- Bed and driveway edges. A line of mid-size boulders frames a bed or keeps cars off the grass.
- Slopes and erosion spots. Set boulders into a bank to hold soil where water runs.
- Water features and dry creek beds. Pair with Sabine river rock and Lateral Rock for the creek floor.
How much to order
Boulders are priced by weight, so the order depends on how many stones you want and how big they are. One ton can be a few large pieces or many smaller ones. Setting boulders so they look natural
- Dig a shallow pocket for each stone. Bury the bottom third so the boulder looks like it grew there instead of sitting on top.
- Turn the most interesting face toward where people see it.
- Group in odd numbers and vary the sizes.
