What it is

A pallet of Emerald Zoysia sod (450 sq ft). The premium-tier Zoysia — finest blade, densest growth pattern, most refined appearance. The "manicured estate" of Zoysias.

When Emerald is the right pick

  • Show lawns. Estate properties, high-end residential, properties where the lawn IS the landscape feature.
  • Pool surrounds where the grass is part of the visual design.
  • Outdoor entertainment spaces that need to look pristine year-round in growing season.
  • HOA-spec premium developments.
  • Customers who want the finest available Zoysia regardless of cost.

For everyday residential use, Palisades is the cost-effective Zoysia choice. Emerald is the premium upgrade.

Trade-offs:

  • Most expensive Zoysia we carry.
  • Slowest to establish (4-5 weeks).
  • Mowing more frequent — Emerald looks best at 1" or below.
  • Limited grower availability — pre-order required.

How much do I need

Standard 450 sq ft pallet:

Lawn area Pallets
500 sq ft (small premium area) 2
1,000 sq ft 3
2,500 sq ft (typical front) 6
5,000 sq ft 12

Property measurement tool for exact counts.

Install

Same as other Zoysias, with extra soil prep — 2-3 inches of Premium Soil Mix tilled in for the dense root system. Patient watering schedule (daily for 14-17 days for full establishment).

Care

  • Mow height: 3/4" to 1" — reel mower preferred for the cleanest cut
  • Frequency: weekly in growing season (Emerald is dense enough that less-frequent mowing scalps it)
  • Fertilizer: premium turf program; the standard 21-7-14 works but the premium look benefits from a targeted fertility schedule
  • Top-dress: annual USGA-spec sand application for surface smoothness

Buying tips

  • Limited availability — pre-order 10-14 days ahead. Don't expect last-minute orders.
  • Confirm mowing commitment — at 2"+ mowing height, Emerald loses its visual differentiation from Palisades. Pay for Emerald only if you're going to maintain it properly.
  • Best installed late spring (May) for the fullest first-season establishment.

Contractor notes

Top-shelf premium SKU. Grower availability is the constraint — pre-book by 2 weeks for guaranteed delivery.
