What it is
A pallet of TifTuf Bermuda sod. 450 sq ft per pallet. TifTuf is University of Georgia-bred for superior drought tolerance and wear resistance — the next-gen Bermuda upgrade from the proven Tifway 419 standard.
What makes TifTuf different
UGA tested TifTuf against the most-used Bermudas in side-by-side drought trials. Key differences vs Tifway 419:
- Holds green color 2-3 weeks longer into a dry summer before showing stress.
- Recovers from drought stress faster when water returns.
- Wear tolerance is higher — sports-field grade, handles kids and dogs better.
- Same sun requirements as other Bermudas — 6+ hours direct.
When TifTuf is worth the upcharge
Pay the difference for TifTuf if:
- You're on a water budget. Water restrictions, well water, conservation goals. TifTuf is the most water-efficient Bermuda on the market.
- Lawn gets heavy traffic. Kids playing, dogs running, parties on the grass. TifTuf self-repairs faster than Tifway 419.
- You don't want to fertilize as often. Lower nitrogen requirements than Tifway 419 for equivalent color.
- HOA mandates no brown lawn in summer. TifTuf holds color through more stress.
If your lawn is in a normal-water area with normal use, Tifway 419 is the cost-effective workhorse — TifTuf is the upgrade.

Same pallet size as all sod — 450 sq ft. Add 5-10% for trim:

Install
Same as Tifway 419 — prep soil with 1-2" of Premium Soil Mix, grade, water, lay tight, roll, water deep, then daily for week 1.
TifTuf establishes about as fast as Tifway 419 — full rooting in 2-3 weeks at normal install temperatures.
When to install
Late March through October. Best windows: April-early June, September-mid-October. Avoid mid-summer unless committed to daily watering.
Buying tips
- TifTuf is a newer cultivar — slightly less broadly available than Tifway 419. Order by Wednesday for weekend pickup or delivery.
- For best long-term water savings, install TifTuf and pair with a smart irrigation controller — the savings stack.
- Same install pattern, same after-care, same mowing height as Tifway 419 (1-2" mow height).
