What it is
A pallet of CT-2 Bermuda sod (450 sq ft). Hybrid Bermuda bred specifically for aggressive lateral growth — meaning it spreads (and self-repairs) faster than any other Bermuda we carry.
When CT-2 is the right pick
- High-traffic family lawns. Kids, dogs, parties, foot traffic. The damage that thins other lawns just gets filled in by CT-2's lateral growth.
- Dog-run areas. Dogs wear lawns down to dirt at favorite spots; CT-2 fills back in fastest.
- Sports use lawns. Backyard football and soccer practice areas where standard turf would die in patches.
- New construction with poor soil. CT-2's aggressive growth can outpace establishment problems that would slow other Bermudas.
- Repair-heavy commercial properties. Apartment complexes, parks, schools — anywhere traffic damage is a constant battle.
Trade-off: CT-2's aggressive lateral growth means it'll also invade your flower beds and along your driveway edges faster than other Bermudas. Plan to install steel edging at bed perimeters as part of the install.
How CT-2 compares to Tifway 419
| CT-2 | Tifway 419 | |
|---|---|---|
| Self-repair from damage | Excellent | Good |
| Spread rate | Aggressive | Moderate |
| Bed invasion potential | Higher | Moderate |
| Cost per pallet | Comparable | Comparable |
| Best for | High-traffic, damage-prone | All-purpose |
For most residential lawns, Tifway 419 is the safer all-purpose pick. CT-2 is for lawns where damage and repair are the focus.
How much do I need

|---|---|

| 5,000 sq ft | 12 |

Install
Same Bermuda prep — Premium Soil Mix, grade, water, lay tight, roll, water deep. CT-2 establishes 2-3 weeks like other Bermudas.
Install edging at the same time. Steel along all bed lines. CT-2 will be in your flower beds within a year without an edge.
Care
Same standard Bermuda care — 1-2" mow height, weekly mow in growing season, 21-7-14 fertilizer spring and fall. Mow on the higher end (2") to keep aggressive lateral growth in check.
Buying tips
- Install edging as a Day 1 step. Retrofitting edging into CT-2 after it's established is way harder than installing before.
- For dog-run-focused installs, use full pallets in the run area and patches around the edges where standard turf transitions to CT-2.
- Don't plant CT-2 right next to a vegetable garden without serious edging — it'll be in your tomatoes.
Contractor notes
Specialty cultivar. Pre-order for spring install season — grower availability is limited mid-summer.
