What it is
Smooth, rounded beach pebbles in dark gray to near-black, polished by the ocean. Sold by the ton. Mexican beach pebbles are the premium decorative stone: they give a clean, modern look that ordinary river rock does not, and they are smooth enough to walk on barefoot.

What it is for
- Modern and minimalist beds. Dark pebbles against pale stucco or white brick, or under agaves and grasses.
- Water features and pondless fountains. The color deepens when wet.
- Planters and pot toppers. Smaller sizes finish the soil surface.
- Borders. A narrow pebble strip between a walk and a bed.
How much to order
Our supplier puts coverage at about 60 to 80 sq ft per ton. Coverage depends on the stone size and how deep you lay it.

Pebbles cost more per ton than our other decorative stone. To stretch a budget, use them as a border or focal area and fill the rest of the bed with Tex Mix river rock or Brazos river rock.
Install
- Excavate about 3 inches.
- Lay landscape fabric.
- Edge the bed with steel edging so stones stay put.
- Place the pebbles. Hand-set the top layer in visible spots for a tidy finish.
