What it is
A 2-cubic-foot bag of the same triple-ground native hardwood mulch we sell by the cubic yard. Standard brown color, ages to gray, holds moisture, suppresses weeds.
When bagged makes sense
Bulk by the yard is cheaper if you're mulching more than a couple beds. Bags are right for:
- One small bed. A single 4x6 planter, a foundation strip, a flowerpot rotation. Bulk minimum is one yard — you don't need a yard.
- Topping off a bulk delivery. Got 5 yards in the drive, realized you forgot the spot by the side gate. Grab a few bags on your way home.
- Stair-access yards. You can carry a bag up an apartment stair or around to a fenced courtyard. You can't carry a yard.
- Wheelbarrow-free installs. Apartments, rental properties, second-floor planters.
How much do I need
About 14 bags per cubic yard. Coverage at 3" depth:

The price math: anything past 5 bags, bulk wins. We're telling you because we don't care which way you order — both are easy.
What it's for
Same uses as our bulk hardwood:
- Front-yard beds, foundation plantings, around trees, vegetable gardens
- Holding soil moisture through Texas summers (you'll water less)
- Blocking weed-seed germination
- Slowly breaking down to feed the soil
- Making a bed look finished
Buying tips
- Bags are 2 cubic feet — about 35-40 pounds dry, heavier when wet from yard storage. Two-hand carry.
- Store dry until install — wet bags lose 30% of usable volume to compaction.
- Layer fresh mulch over old mulch — no need to remove last year's, just top up.
Pickup or delivery
