What it is
A pallet of Bimini Bermuda sod (450 sq ft). Premium fine-bladed hybrid Bermuda — denser growth, finer blade than Tifway 419, good drought and wear tolerance.
When Bimini is the right pick
- You want a fine-bladed Bermuda look — slightly more refined than Tifway 419, without committing to the TifSport reel-mower requirement.
- Premium residential lawns where appearance is a priority and water budget allows normal irrigation.
- Coastal-inspired residential design (Bimini was originally bred for coastal southern climates).
- HOA-spec premium lawns in newer high-end developments.
For all-purpose residential use, Tifway 419 is more cost-effective. For maximum drought tolerance, TifTuf. Bimini sits in the premium-look but normal-mowing slot.
How much do I need
Standard 450 sq ft pallet:
| Lawn area | Pallets |
|---|---|
| 1,000 sq ft | 3 |
| 2,500 sq ft | 6 |
| 5,000 sq ft | 12 |
Use the property measurement tool to get exact pallet counts.
Install
Same Bermuda install pattern — Premium Soil Mix, grade, water, lay tight, roll, water deeply. 2-3 week root establishment.
Care
- Mow height: 1-1.5" (slightly lower than Tifway for the dense fine-bladed look)
- Mowing frequency: weekly in growing season
- Fertilizer: 21-7-14 in spring and fall, plus optional summer Iron Plus for color
- Edging: Bimini's dense growth means it'll seek to invade beds — use steel edging at perimeters
Buying tips
- Bimini availability varies by season — pre-order 7-10 days for big jobs.
- Combine with TifTuf for water-restricted areas of the same property if you want a tiered approach to lawn investment.
- The fine blade looks best at lower mowing heights — if you mow at 2"+, the visual upgrade vs Tifway is minimal.
